Garuda Indonesia will be shutting down their direct Jakarta – London flights as a cost cutting measure.
According to Garuda’s chief executive Ari Askhara the airline will end flights to London by the end of August and trim down the frequency to Amsterdam by half to thrice-weekly.
Ari Askhara told parliamentary commission that Askhara the carrier could not sustained London routes without subsidies, as oil prices are on the rise.
Airline also trimming down flights to Bima, Maumere, Morotai, Denpasar-Mumbai and Tanjung Pandan-Singapore.
“Those routes were closed because the Rp8 billion ($555,700) subsidy promised by the Ministry of Tourism did not materialise,” says Askhara.
