Hong Kong’s Airport Authority has cancelled all departure flights by Monday afternoon as thousands of demonstrators flooded into the airport.
The pro-democracy protesters swarmed the main terminal building for a fourth day holding signs reading “Hong Kong is not safe” and “Shame on police”.
This is biggest disruption yet to the city’s economy since demonstrations began in early June.
The airport said in a statement. “Other than the departure flights that have completed the check-in process and the arrival flights that are already heading to Hong Kong, all other flights have been canceled for the rest of today.”
