French long-cost carrier XL Airways is on the verge of bankruptcy and suspended ticket sales due to financial difficulties.
The airline says “we are deeply sorry to have to announce that XL Airways is stopping selling tickets effective today, 19th September 2019.”
XL Airways which operates a fleet of four Airbus A330 aircraft primarily from Paris Charles de Gaulle airport to popular long haul French leisure destinations says to cease ticket sales.
This comes only two weeks after another French airline, Aigle Azur, ceased operations following financial difficulties and internal disputes.
XL Airways France was founded in 1995, merged with La Compagnie in 2016, an all-business class airline which operates flights from Paris Orly and Nice to New York Newark.
At the moment, La Compagnie continues to sell tickets as they both operate as two difference airlines. La Compagnie took delivery of their first A321neo this summer.
