Air India became the first airline in the world to use a Taxibot on Airbus A320 aircraft with passengers onboard on Tuesday
Taxibot is a robot-used aircraft tractor for taxiing an aircraft from parking bay to runway and vice versa without the engine power.
Taxibot was developed by the Lahav Division of Israel Aerospace Industries.
The TaxiBot is controlled by the pilot from the cockpit using the regular pilot controls and has an 800-hp hybrid-electric engine
On Tuesday morning, the national carrier on flight AI665 to Mumbai used Taxibot at terminal 3 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.
