The chief Executive of Garuda Indonesia will be dismissed on suspicion of smuggling a disassembled Harley Davidson motorcycle and Brompton folding bicycles onboard new Airbus A330-900 delivery flight.
The chief executive, Ari Askhara, was alleged that he smuggled the motorbike from France in the new airplane in which only Garuda Indonesia executives and employees were onboard.
The tried to evade paying tax on motorcycles worth half billion rupiah (S$48,500) to 1.5 billion rupiah (S$146,000)
Thohir told a news conference that CEO Askhara, who took up his role in September 2018, had ordered a Harley Davidson motorbike last year and bought it in April 2019
State-Owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir said on Thursday, “I will dismiss the Garuda president director and the process will be in accordance with regulated procedures,” .. “It won’t end there.
