Electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft maker Volocotper has received a Design Organization Approval (DOA) from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
The German company, Volocopter is the first electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) startup to receive official approval from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
Volocopter is also the first eVTOL firm to receive EASA’s Design Organisation Approval in the area of VTOL.
The company raised $50 million to develop its latest model two-passenger VoloCity announced earlier this year.
Volocopter tested its personal transport with passengers on board in Singapore and Stuttgart in a successful demonstrator flight.
Volocopter hopes to launch its service for the public in around two to three years’ time.
