An Air Canada Boeing 767-300, on flight AC-837 suffered number of engine compressor stalls and one of the tyres also was blown on takeoff.
The flight AC-837 from Madrid,Spain to Toronto, Canada with 128 passengers on board, departed Madrid’s runway 36L at 12.55PM on 3 feb, 2020.
As the aircraft was climbing out, its left hand engine suffered a number of compressor stalls emitting bangs and streaks of flames.
The crew levelled the aircraft at 5000 feet initially, later entered a hold pattern at 8000 feet to burn off fuel and had the landing gear inspected by fighter aircraft.
The fighter aircraft confirmed one of the tyres was blown.
The aircraft returned to Madrid and made an emergency landing on runway 32L about 4:10 hours after departure.
