Mango Airlines Boeing 737-800 experienced wing fairing panel separation during climb-out of Cape Town International Airport in South Africa on 14 Jan 2020.
The flight JE152 from Cape Town to Johannesburg (South Africa), was climbing through about 9000 feet, when a panel of the left hand wing to body fairing dropped off the aircraft.
The panel fell off the into Cape Town’s surbub Kayamandi (Stellenbosch) about 12nm east of Cape Town, nobody was injured.
The aircraft continued the flight to Johannesburg for a landing without further incident.
A local resident was seen carrying the panel away.
The occurrence aircraft returned to service about 24 hours after landing in Johannesburg.
