An Air Baltic Airbus A220-300, on flight BT677 was diverted to Bordeaux, France after an uncontained engine failure.
The flight BT677 from Riga to Malaga was at FL390 about 80nm south of Bordeaux, when its left hand engine (PW1500G) suffered an uncontained failure and shut down.
The crew diverted the aircraft to Bordeaux where the aircraft landed safely about 25 minutes after leaving FL390.
According to BEA, three other similar A220-300 engine failure incidents reported last year were under investigation.
