Scandinavian Airlines, SAS said it will temporarily layoff 10,000 staff, which is 90% of the workforce.
The Airline said on Sunday, that will halt flight operations from 16 March, until further notice and layoff almost 90% of its workforce.
“Due to the coronavirus and the measures implemented by national authorities, the demand for air travel is essentially non-existent. SAS has therefore decided to put most of its operations on hold, starting Monday March 16 and until necessary prerequisites for commercial air traffic returns..” airline said in a statement.
The staff reductions will be implemented through all parts of the operation, airline said.
The announcement came as Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, are all closing their borders to most foreign visitors.
