A car chase led onto runways and taxiways of Van Nuys Airport in the City of Los Angeles, California, United States.
A high-speed chase began after LA Airport Police were notified a dark-grey car had gotten into the airport and was driving recklessly.
The pursuit started around 9a.m local time and lasted for about 20 minutes. Several LAPD patrol units and a helicopter to help chase the driver down, who managed to get past three PIT maneuver attempts.
The car finally smashed and exited the airport barriers and came to a stop on the street, where the driver was arrested.
“At around 8:50 a.m. the Los Angeles Airport Police engaged in a pursuit of an unauthorized vehicle that broke through a fence at Van Nuys Airport and entered the airfield. Aircraft traffic was immediately stopped. Both runways were re-opened around 9:50 a.m. after being inspected for safety. Police arrested one suspect at the scene and are investigating the incident.
