Indonesian divers have retrieved Flight Data Recorder (Black Box) of Sriwijaya Air plane that crashed into the Java Sea last Saturday.
The Boeing 737-500 jet crashed just 4 minutes after taking off from Jakarta’s main airport killing all 62 onboard.
More than a dozen helicopters, 53 navy ships and 20 boats, and 2,600 rescue personnel have been searching since Sunday.
Divers using high-tech ping-locator equipment scoured beneath 20 metres of seabed mud and managed to locate the Flight Data Recorder.
Divers also recovered part of one of the engines from Sriwijaya Air Boeing 737-500.
“We are sure that, because the beacon that was attached to the cockpit voice recorder was also found around the area, so with high confidence, the cockpit voice recorder will soon be found,” military chief Hadi Tjahjanto said at a news conference.
