Prime minister of Malaysia Muhyiddin Yassin has appointed Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin as group chairman of Malaysia Airlines’ parent company, Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), effective 1 July.

The Prime Minister announced that Wan Zulkiflee will succeed Md Nor Yusof, who resigned from the carrier in March 2019.

Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin, previously CEO and president of Malaysian oil and gas company Petronas, will now serve with the flag carrier said the prime minister’s office.

“I believe that under his leadership, (Malaysian Airlines) can be restructured, and grow as a resilient and sustainable national carrier that has good governance,” Muhyiddin Yasin said on 6 June statement.
